Welcome to the Hiawatha Sunday 2:00 Ski Club. We are excited about the 2025 ski season! Whether your family is new to cross-country skiing or you're a veteran Ski Club participant or volunteer, we are excited to have you in our club.

Ski Club is volunteer-led and our success depends upon family involvement. We encourage every family to help in some way. For more information on volunteering or to sign-up please visit the MyXC website volunteer portal. Returning volunteers DO need to complete a new volunteer sign-up every year.

- THANK YOU to our awesome coaches, assistant coaches, and sweepers (these folks get advanced registration, too. Please sign up!)
- We are planning to have post-club snacks again this season so look for the sign-up as we get this organized.
- The Hiawatha Hustle is our capstone event at the end of the season and we will need lots of volunteers to make it an awesome afternoon! This is a fun, end of season, celebration of skiing with ALL Hiawatha Ski Clubs. We are hoping to have the Hustle again this year and will update with more information when we have it.

Schedule

We will meet for eight Sundays beginning January 5, 2025 at Hiawatha Golf Course. Our last club meeting will be February 23 and we are tentatively planning to have the Hiawatha Hustle on Saturday, March 1.

***Please note that the first session or two we will assess the skills of skiers to ensure that we have kids in the right level. Not sure which level your skier should be in? Check this link from SkiSparks for some idea. Due to the poor snow during the 2024 season returning skiers are advised to sign up for the same level they were in last season unless they aged out of that group in which case they should move up. If you have any questions about level assignment please feel free to email.***

Session Location and Timing

We ski at the Hiawatha Golf Course and meet in the open area just south of the Solomon R. Hughes Sr. Clubhouse. Ski club starts at 2:00 PM. Level 1 skiers will meet for 60 minutes. Levels 2-6 will meet for 90 minutes.

Registration

Registration dates have been set as follows:

October 2nd: Leadership Team
October 9th: Primary On-Snow Volunteers
October 21st: Other Volunteers
October 24th (9AM): Open Registration

For more details on the registration phases please look here.

The registration schedule does come with one caveat. It is very important that we have enough volunteers to safely run ski club. This means a ratio of 4:1 or 5:1 skiers to adult on-snow volunteers. If there are not enough volunteers then open registration will be held off until enough people volunteer to safely run ski club.

Rentals

We are fortunate to be able to offer rentals for both classic and skate equipment again this year. MyXC makes classic ski rentals available for about half of the size of the club. Rentals are available on a strictly first-come first-served basis and the only way to guarantee a rental is to be a volunteer. There are usually classic rentals left by the time open registration begins, but they do go fast. Skate rentals can almost be guaranteed to be gone by the time open registration begins.
