How do I know which club to join?

New to MyXC? Start here for all the information you need as new members!

Many members join clubs that are closest to their homes or that work best with their schedules. Others enjoy clubs where they have friends who are members. There are lots of things to consider when joining a club. Pick the one that suits your needs best. If you are new to the area or need assistance, reach out to our team at info@myxc.org and we can help guide you.

Many clubs fill up fast, so consider deciding before registration opens in October so you get the club that works best for you.

How do I know what size equipment my child needs?

Our sizing chart is an important resource for youth sizing! But here are some general rules:

Classic Ski Length Guidelines:
Ages 0-5: Not taller than child
Ages 6-8:  Child's height
Ages 9-12: move to 10 cm taller than child
A child ought to grow out of the skis not into them.

When you register, you are asked to fill in height, weight and shoe size for your skier. Filling in sizing does NOT guarantee rentals (you must select and pay for rentals during checkout). It is important that this information is filled in correctly (especially shoe size), however, you can log in later to correct it.

What if the ski equipment is sold out?

Our rental equipment is in very high demand and we appreciate your cooperation in the allocation of equipment. You have a much better chance of getting rental equipment for your skier from your club IF an adult in your household volunteers. Volunteers get priority registration and rentals.

If your club’s equipment is sold out, please consider attending the annual MyXC Ski Swap. This is the biggest and best event to find used/discounted ski equipment for youth, juniors and even adults!

You can also find equipment through retailers such as FinnSisu, Pioneer Midwest, GearWest, REI, etc. You can also reach out to your club leader for more assistance.

Please note, that we follow best practices and require that children learn to classic ski before they skate.

High School kids, can stay involved by becoming a junior coach, or joining your local high school team!

What times do clubs meet?

All club information can be found on our Find A Club page.

What if the club I want is full?

You can join a waitlist for a club if your club is full, but we highly recommend you register for another club in the meantime. It is always fun to ski a new trail and make new friends in the community!

Please check out our Waitlist Policy.

Volunteering

How do I know which volunteer position to apply for?

Our clubs are 100% volunteer led and coached! We provide guidance, training and structure!

We are always in need of coaches, junior coaches, sweepers and even Club Leadership positions. More info on our volunteer roles here.

Volunteers also get priority registration!

Please see the registration schedule here.

Who can volunteer?

Anyone is more than welcome to volunteer! Enthusiasm is the #1 requirement (more important than skiing skills). Volunteers on skis can be beginners! It is not until Level 4, where intermediate skills are required.

Most of our volunteers are parents or family members, but many adults in the community also volunteer (or continue volunteering once their kids age out).

The younger skiers LOVE Junior Coaches (high school age volunteers). This is also a great way to get service hours.

You don’t need to have any experience. And we have roles for non-skiers as well.

Do I need to complete a background check or any training?

Please review all of our online training and requirements here.

Do I need to know how to ski to volunteer?

Nope! We have many volunteer roles available- please check them out here. You can reach out to your club leader to see what is available with your club.

How can I obtain proof of my volunteer hours?

Your club leader can provide you with the documentation you need. If you have more questions, please contact info@myxc.org.
